"Thanks for the picture!! I have seen a few black and white pictures of the opera house that were printed on postcards but this is the first one I have ever seen in color. It is a great picture! As a small boy I spent some time in the building which already had begun to show it's age. Unfortunately I don't know of many if any pictures of the inside. It was quite the community center and served as a place to enjoy plays and musicals, town wide hymn sings, community band concerts, a precinct building and polling place and eventually as a movie house. The upstairs served as a meeting place for several community "society" organizations. Unfortunately the building was used less often until it was determined to have become unsafe and it was cost prohibitive to repair a building that didn't have promise for more extensive use.
The historic structure was demolished and a small precinct building was built on the site. Today there are many people who regret the decision to remove the original structure, a one of a kind landmark for our area".
